Description

Void Armour might not be the mega-powerful, faction-wide passive survivability buff it was in 9th edition – but worsening incoming attacks’ AP is crucial to protect your elite infantry (and even your tanks, in a pinch), so you’ll find this 1CP is a regular staple. The Leagues of Votann have five named Leagues to choose from as your sub-faction, and a selection of rules you can combine to make your own league if you prefer instead. With Judgement Tokens, your army can swiftly cast judgement on your enemies, determining who's the most high-priority target to meet their wrath. There’s one book in the Leagues of Votann Army Set, but it’s a pretty important one – and, boy, does it look really damn cool. Binding this society together were ‘Guilds’ of scientists and technicians, whose understanding of technology outstripped the Adeptus Mechanicus.

And, despite their common, Terran, ape ancestry, the Kin have no love at all for the Imperium of Man or the Emperor of Mankind. As we saw with the non-vehicle miniatures in the set, there’s plenty about them that makes them feel like Squats, particularly their physical proportions and the runic-style motifs on some of their armour. It is our mission to bring you the latest from the miniature wargaming scene, from narrative missions, hobby how-to tutorials, battle reports, unboxings and reviews, retro flashbacks, news, rumors, and more.We also get some top tips for painting red armour in this week’s Citadel Colour Masterclass – perfect to make your characters and centrepiece miniatures stand out. The first wave of Kin includes Ûthar the Destined – who you can also build as a Kâhl – a formidable Einhyr Champion, three nippy Hernkyn Pioneers, and 20 Hearthkyn Warriors who can be taken as two squads of 10 to fill out a Patrol Detachment. The Ion Blasters would cost 1 point per swap while the rest of the upgrades are either 5, 10, or 20 points in the case of the Magna-rail rifle. Since then, the Iron Head Prospectors Squat gang has been released for Necromunda, and we’ve learnt more about their history.

They also come with powerful ranged weapons, grenades, and can move 12" before the start of the first turn. But if you turn up to your local gaming hangout, to a friend’s house, or wherever it is you go to play and everyone takes one look at your Leagues figures and goes: “Nope, no thanks,” then a fundamental part of the intended experience of this box is being undermined. There are also quite a few head options across the models, as well as customisation with bags, pouches, and other vehicle-mounted acessiories. We'll dive into each of the units included in the Army Set in the next section, but I wanted to take a moment to highlight some of their rules that really stand out. Splashed in the same artwork that decorates the cover if the Army Box itself, the book is a thing to behold.Genetic manipulation, commerce with the Xenos… the Leagues would make a Monodominant Inquisitor’s trigger finger very twitchy. After the spectacular Ûthar the Destined/Kâhl and Einhyr Champion models, I’m in two minds about the Hernkyn Pioneers. It gives him a real sense of command, and that he is directing the forward charge of the rest of your forces.

They have little to do with the bike-riding Squats of the Rogue Trader era or the Necromunda Squat Prospects. The Warhammer 40K Leagues of Votann codex -- along with detailing all the rules, options, weapons, etc. At this present time, as he’s the only hero announced in the range, Ûthar is very much the face of the new faction – and the sculpt of his head is horrible.Built from the same kit as Ûthar, but with a few varying weapon and bits choices, the Kâhl is your main Leader unit, somewhat equivalent to a Space Marine captain. There is huge value hidden inside the new Leagues of Votann Warhammer 40k Army Box in our estimated value breakdown.
