We work closely with publishers and authors to ensure that we offer the best books on the market for your child. Whatever your child really enjoys tell them those things will be there and ask them what they think they will find too.

When her two children turned 3 and 1 she found her love of coming up with silly games to make learning more fun in the classroom finally came into its own at home, and she began blogging about what she was up to. If you’d rather hear me chat through these ideas than read the article below then here is a video of me talking through all things starting school - WATCH HERE. As an ex-teaching assistant working across early years I knew what I needed to do to prepare him but as usual I was limited on time and energy. But in the months leading up to starting school I was mindful to not always step straight in and to let my children attempt things on their own as long as they could (and my patience would allow! Daisy likes to celebrate this fact by eating large quantities of chocolate oranges and creme eggs (season dependant), and dancing in the kitchen. I am mum to Ewan (7) and Florence (5) and was previously a Teaching Assistant working in primary schools. I’ve written out my tips below but since those early days I have written two books about this very topic.

Galt Rainbow lab - this kit is fun to do anyway but the pipettes, tubes and little pots are brilliant for basic potion play afterwards using the food colouring. All the little moments we spent playing five minute games, or reading with him, slowly but surely building the blocks have lead to this. The firs thing to do is validate those feelings in your little one telling them that is OK to feel that way and it’s totally natural and there are lots of things we can do together to help ease those nervous butterflies and worries. Packed full of games and activities designed to help children feel confident and excited about learning, Time For School will support them - and you!

I keep relaying this message time and time again whenever they get stuck with something or frustrated and just hope they will remember it at school when the time comes.

Now I’m a stay at home mum who enjoys thinking up silly games to occupy my two little nose miners on a daily basis. Now if you’re coming to this page midway through the holidays in a ‘HELP ME I’M ALL OUT OF IDEAS’ way then don’t worry, there’s stuff in here for you too.We do our best to provide good quality books for you to read, but there is no escaping the fact that it has been owned and read by someone else previously. Daisy's games only take five minutes to set up and five minutes to tidy up you can support them at home without wanting to bang your head on the kitchen table. During those first few weeks show them how to empty their school bags, put their shoes and coat away and bring you any letters they got to bring home.
