as Millie is going to live with Jack and Grace once she turns 18, and leaves the facility she has been living at. Yes, I was originally sold on it by the plotline description and the number of five star reviews it had received, but if I had started to read the much smaller number of really negative reviews first, I would never have picked up the novel in the first place, and that would have been a shame. And when will she get any time to herself and an opportunity to even do anything remotely like changing her life situation. I highly recommend this standalone for anyone that loves a suspenseful, psychological thriller but cannot stomach the gory details. The mounting evidence of ever more and ever worse skulduggery will pull Tempe deeper and deeper down what even she sees as a rabbit hole before she confronts a ringleader implicated in “Drugs.

I have read a few books recently about marriages that are not all they same and when this theme is done well (as this book does) it's absolutely breathtaking and scary. The *sickening* element is certainly present, but applied with a gentle hand and refrains from growing too dark or heavy.Diane marvels that I've managed to get everything ready at the same time, and admits she always chooses a main course like curry, which can be prepared earlier and heated through at the last minute. But she switches from mildly irritated stranger to Grace's best friend and murderous collaborator with no rhyme or reason except for Jack's misdescription of Millie's bedroom colour. more I had my suspicions about a friend's marriage, my imagination went into overspin and Behind Closed Doors was the result!

She's the complete opposite of Diane — tall, blonde, slim, reserved — and I can't help respecting her for being the first person to step into our house and not go on about how beautiful it is. And in the end, I really wanted to actually see Grace get her revenge: I wanted to see Jack suffer, to watch her make him suffer, to see his reaction. Even with Millie's privately managed welfare, it's not entirely believable to me that a bloke can just rock up, sign a few papers, and become someone with Down's syndrome's legal guardian.I'm completely baffled by all the five-star reviews for this one-dimensional yawnfest; the contrived storyline has to rank as one of the most implausible of all time. Diving into the spoiler >>>> "Molly could only have been dead a few days at the most, because her body hadn't started to decompose. She takes the flight to Thailand alone, telling everyone they know that Jack urged her to take their vacation so he could spend a few days finishing up the court case he had just lost. Ok, so what’s the real story of this relationship and why is Grace’s sister coming to live with them?
