Bright and brave, loving and endlessly patient, Anna sees the very best in others and seeks always to lift them up. Murder and mystery are peppered with romance and humour in this fast-paced crime whodunnit, set amidst the spectacular Northumbrian landscape. The plot, the treatment of the characters, the style, the language have little in common with all the other books of the series. Quite enjoyed it as I love the characters however I think I’d worked out many of the twists long before they and that’s a shame as it is not like the usual offerings - still love frank though he’s a legend!

The banter between Ryan and Frank as well as Franks forced dieting adds some great humor with the case gripping the reader and have them trying to solve it before they do. Anyway, all in all I'm glad I read it, and I might venture to read another at some point, but it wasn't exactly gripping. The majority of pages are undamaged with some creasing or tearing, and pencil underlining of text, but this is minimal. A born leader, he inspires others to be the best they can be and, more importantly, to hope for the best in others, even in the darkest of times. One of the reasons why I have been invested in this series from the start and will carry on reading it is the two loveable crime fighting duo, Ryan and Frank.

J. Ross's description of the settings of Lady's Well, which allowed me to imagine being part of the book's plot. They seem to be used for such different purposes and, again, they broke my focus because they were so unnecessary and confusing. I hope to go back to England, and one place I hope to see as soon as I land is Holy Isle or Lindisfarne.

The main focus was on Melanie who is still struggling with events in the previous book and her decisions whilst may be right for her may have you wondering what next and how the team will be affected and will definitely have you waiting for the next instalment. Louise is a keen philanthropist, and is pleased to have supported numerous non-profit programmes in addition to founding several of her own, including the Lindisfarne Reading Challenge and the Lindisfarne Prize for Debut Crime Fiction. In addition to her DCI Ryan series, Louise has created a new series of thriller novels based around the central character of ‘Dr Alexander Gregory’, whose work as a psychological profiler takes him around the world. The Bookseller magazine has reported on Louise having topped the ‘Most Read’ and ‘Most Sold’ fiction charts, and she has garnered an army of loyal fans who love her atmospheric and addictive storytelling.

While the mystery was perplexing and well-delivered, the rest of the story was a series of loose ends with the major characters. I should say it is Halloween) and I can’t wait to see if we ever do find out if they have to make good on the bet they made.

The death of one of the locals isn’t as clear cut as everyone seems to think and it’s great seeing the team working together as the case gets more twisted and complicated. Favourite songs: Make it With You (Bread); Thunderstruck (AC/DC); Heroes (David Bowie); Eye of the Tiger (Survivor); Paint it Black (Rolling Stones); Born to Run (Bruce Springsteen); Pride (U2); Alive (Pearl Jam); Dangerzone (Kenny Loggins) and anything by Puccini or Miles Davis. Trading Address (Warehouse) Unit E, Vulcan Business Complex, Vulcan Road, Leicester, Leicestershire, LE5 3EB. There's a serial killer targeting the streets of Newcastle, seemingly picking his victims at random but subjecting them all to the same torturous end. Lady’s Well is probably one of new favourites in the series with plenty of twists that had me hooked.

At Books2Door, we believe that reading is a fundamental skill that every child should have to help improve their vocabulary, grammar, and critical thinking skills. Granted, these are part of everyday life and so I can understand them being included, but it seemed a shame to me that, in a place of such amazing ancient history, these allusions to contemporary life were given so much focus. With another death, which could be suicide, the team have got to work hard and quickly to get to the bottom of just what is going on. The 20th in the sequence (I am a fan and have read them all) and if it was the premier league it’d be about 15th - safe from relegation but certainly no where near some if the excellent books in this series. DCI Ryan and his team caught a mysterious case of Well turning red, and the entire village of Holystone suffered from poisoning, which caused an older man to die.
